Things To Consider When Purchasing a Mower

mowers for saleSo, you're new to lawn care, huh? Mowing your grass can be an art but once you know all the tips and tricks, you'll get the hang of it pretty quick. Your first step is to purchase the lawn mower - and you might be surprised at how many different kinds of lawn mowers are out there! So what kind should you buy?

First off, lawn mowers vary in price based on how efficient they are. If you're looking to save some pennies, then it might be best to get a mower that requires you use it more than once a week to keep your lawn tidy. However, if you have some extra money on hand, you may want to get a more heavy-duty lawn mower that you don't have to use as much.

But beyond your individual budget, you will pick out a mower based on the type of grass you're dealing with, the climate you live in, and the look you want for your yard.

So what exactly are your options? There are reel mowers, which have spinning blades, and rotary motors, which have circular blades. As well, you can get one that's gasoline powered - but prepare for a noisy mower that also is hard on the environment. If you opt for a quieter, environment-friendly electric motor, make sure to research the length of the cord and compare it to the size of your lawn.

Now, do you want a mower that you must push or one that you can ride on? If you've got an especially large lawn on your hands, get a lawn mower that also doubles as a tractor! Otherwise, expect for lawn mowing to double as exercising. Make sure your mower is not too heavy for you to push.

Now, do you want a mulching or a bagging mower? If you can find a lawn mower that has both features, then that is the ideal purchase. However, in general, it's a good idea to get a mower that mulches, as it provides for the optimal health for your lawn (the cut grass blades are recycled back into the ground). However, for months where there is extra rainfall or for folks who have difficulty maintaining their lawn, bagging is preferable.
